A fine bristled brass brush used judicially. Make sure the bristles are real brass and DO NOT scour.This is a slow process but it will work well. Note you are probably calling liken moss by mistake It is confusing.
Use a solution of half Clorox and half water in a spray bottle. Leave it on for about 20 minutes. That will kill any moss, mildew or other deterioration. Then with liquid soap and water scrub the stone thoroughly until it is again it's original color. Rinse everything thoroughly.
some Mean Green spray cleaner should do it, the directions are on the bottle and you can ge it at Dollar General or Wal Mart
