try ice to harden it or this stuff called"goo gone." goo gone has worked for me so far on anything sticky.
409 removes tar from almost everything.

Easy and inexpensive method: Get some glycerin (available at most drug stores in the hand lotion isle, but ask the pharmacist if you can't find it) and work into the spot. Let set for about 30 minutes. Then using paper towels, and using a circular lifting motion, wipe the tar off. Follow up with a commercially prepared product such as Spot Shot which is available at most department and grocery stores.
