How do you remove motor oil from white cotton slacks?
Question:
Answers:
Soak it overnight in the sink in cold water and Dawn dish soap (has to be the original blue liquid Dawn). Squirt some directly on the stain, rub it in and then add a ton of it to the sink full of cold, cold, water... This really works! When my husband worked on cars, this is what would work.good luck!
impossible
You really just don't
:(sorry
on white cotton u could try bleach. dish soap can work on grease stains too since it is made to cut grease. On white though, u may be S.O.L. Next time wear some old jeans!
Put the Dawn directly on the oil stain. No need to soak in water, however spraying the area around the stain w/water will keep the oil from traveling to neighboring fibers.
Do not dilute the Dawn at all. You can let the Dawn stay on the clothes until you are ready to launder them, but let them sit at least overnight to work its magic.
Launder as the label of the slacks advises. Do not add additional cleanser.
Check for stain after washing, repeat if necessary but DO NOT dry in between. It'll be harder to remove the stain.
Mechanics waterless hand cleaner! It takes out all kinds of grease and oil. I use it to get oil out of my hubby's work clothes, oil from heavy equipment. Just brush it on with an old toothbrush, and throw it in the wash with good detergent, like tide, and some oxi-clean, and wash as usual. If it doesn't all come out the first time, do it again before you dry it. I have really good luck with it, and its cheap too.
My husband is a mechanic and brings oil home in his clothes all the time. I put a can of coke in the laundry with his laundry. I add soap like usual and let the cycle run. Something in the coke gets the oil out of the clothes.
