Is there any way to get mildew out of clothing?
Question:My kids have some really cute outfits and I don't want to through them away. One is orange and one is red so I can't use bleach.
Answers:
Pour undiluted white distilled vinegar into a spray bottle. Vinegar is great at getting rid of mold/mildew, and it also eliminates the bad odor. Spray the vinegar onto the affected areas. Let it sit for several hours, ideally outside in the sun.
Use warm, sudsy water to wash it. Rinse it and let it dry in a clean, dry place.
Get a box of Arm N Hammer baking powder and put a cup of it in along with your detergent and wash with the warmest water possible for the fabric. Good luck!!
A mixture of salt, vinegar, and water should remove mildew stains on most fabrics. Use up to full-strength vinegar if mildew is extensive.
You can try this. Its worked for juice stains before. Stretch the clothing over a coat hanger to isolate the spot(stain), and to keep your hands safe. Then slowly pour boiling water on it. I think this works only for cotton though so be careful.
