How do I remove old set in stains from grey berber carpet?
Question:My wife and I have just bought a house that has grey berber carpet that is very, very dirty and appears to have several old set in stains. The current owners said they have recently had it steam cleaned but it still looks quite dirty. Is there anything that I could try to use on the stains that will work that the professional cleaner would not have tried?
Answers:
ChemDry carpet cleaning does an amazing job on dingy carpets. It is expensive ($350 for a 2800sq ft home) but worth it!
Water extraction services leave a residue that accumulates dirt to the detergents left behind in the fibers. Some are better than others but the chem dry is better and dries super fast.
Spots will almost always come out with a paste solution of OxyClean and water. Don't be a afraid of color removal, this stuff really works. Pet stains, wine stains . . . you name it.
There will be a residue of white powder left behind best take out with more water and shop vac, or if you are going to have a professional come in just leave it and it will come out with the cleaning.
Good Luck! Carpet Replacement is $$$$
gross tear it out and buy new
