There is a plastic scraper made especially to clean glass and ceramic surfaces. You can get this at most shops. I would also use dish liquid and tepid water.

Has it been glazed (is it shiny?)? If so, you can wash it in dish water. Unglazed ceramic should not be gotten wet.

If you mean knob? I use Barkeeper's Friend to clean any tough stain on stuff that will not be hurt by water. Available at Wal-mart for under $2. Safe for dishes, ceramic etc.
