Have a question about getting the smell of dirt off something that's really old?
Question:I got a trumpet at a yard sale and it's over 50 years old, but I got it at a good price. It took me 3 hours to fix it up to get it to working condition, but only one thing has bothered me. The smell of dust is still on it. How do you get that to go away?
Answers:
You may try wiping it down with diluted vinegar water, and then making sure you dry it good, not sure, but it might help, and I think vinegar would not hurt the finish of the instrument.thanks Becky d
metal usually doesn't hold a smell so look and see if there is cork or cotton pads where the valves are. the smell most likly is stuck to them. you may need to have them replaced. still cheaper than a new one
return it
