How do I clean vintage metal skeleton keys?

Question:I purchased a bag of antique and vintage skeleton keys at an antique shop and I would like to clean them up before I use them for craft projects. Is there a simple home remedy that I can use, like a solution to soak them in? I have over 100 of them and don't want to have to scrub and polish each one by hand. :)

Answers:
By cleaning them, you risk losing the patina that has formed over the years, thus decreasing the value of them. If you insist, use a mild soap and water.

If they are brass, you can fill a baking dish with hot water and Baking soda. Line the dish with aluminum foil first, and change the mixture often. (Let the keys soak in that )
