Head stains on one's pillow?
Question:How can I get rid of the yellowish stains that my hair (?) leaves on my pillow? I've always had this problem, and I tried oxy clean. It only got it somewhat clean.
Answers:
My mother always unstitched one end of the pillow, removed the stuffing, and then washed the pillowcase in heavy detergent and bleach.
The stains are a mixture of dirt and oil from your hair and face. So, you may try soaking them in Dawn (dishwashing soap) for a few hours to break up the oils before washing.
In reality, pillows and pillowcases aren't that expensive and take a while to yellow. So, just buy new ones. It's a lot easier.
I use Neutragena shampoo and used to have the same problem. I now put a towel on the pillow, that way the pillow case doesn't get stained.
My grandma told me, which I still abide by, to use shampoo, the same works for ring around the collar, been doing this for 17 years now, it always works!!
I usually buy suave, or another kind that's made for oily hair type, these work the best. Good luck to you, hope this helps.
i have the same problem w/ my hubby's pillow cover... i use Spot Shot... i spray it b/4 puttin it in the wash & it works.
Have a shower/bath before bed and wash hair use a pillow protector or can you still buy those little night caps for your head so your hair won't touch the pillow.Have you tried dry cleaning.
