What is the best way to get "BASEMENT SMELL" out of clothing?

Question:I have a HE washer and tried washing them three times already to no avail! PLEASE HELP! Serious answers please.

Answers:
Use a pleasantly scented liquid fabric softener with a neutral scented baking powder included clothing detergent. Wash on the appropriate temperature settings for the type of clothes and don't keep in the dryer for too long. Works for me.

Try Febreeze Fabric Freshener
get a de humidifier
wash your clothes again
Put out a clothesline and hang them in the fresh air and sunshine for a couple of hours.
arm&hammer baking soda
i don't know what a HE washer is but try scented fabric softener
Wash them with a SMALL amount of bleach in the water and hang them OUTSIDE to dry in the sun.
Problem solved.
Wash them in Hammers Baking soda and then if they still smell rinse them with vinegar and that should do the trick!!
wash your clothing as normal, and dry it in a dryer.
a softener sheet will help also.
no dryer? try febeeze for fabrics.
That smell is usually mold.
Wash with the hottest water possible, and use a couple of cups of vinegar for a large load. Then repeat with hottest water and a liberal use of Tide. Add Downy to the rinse cycle and dry on the line, or in the dryer with a fabric softener sheet.
There you go. Done!
I would try SOAKING the clothes in Febreeze, hanging them up somewhere to dry (it may take an entire day or so) and then re-washing. If that doesn't work you'll probably have to take them to a pro.
After you wash the clothes, When the rinse is about to begin, Add 1 1/2 cups of white vinegar to the rinse water, this will remove any odors that might be there. When you dry the clothes all the odors will be gone.

You also might need a dehumidifier for the basement, that could help you. When the basement gets damp that is what causes most of the odors in the basement, eventually the dampness will cause mold. So if you can get a dehumidifier and every so often turn it on.
