Why does packaging tape smell like vinegar?
Question:so wierd.
Answers:
Most all economical (lower priced) packaging tape is made from a low quality polypropylene with an acrylic adhesive. Both of these components are chemical based, and will out-gas (release odor). These lower quality tapes will also yellow and ripple (on the roll), and loose its tack (bite) over time. Its also rather noisy off the roll. A natural (rubber based) adhesive packaging tape is a much better option, as it's quite (off the roll) doesn't smell, yellow, ripple, or release (fall off) overtime. It costs about twice as much, but you use half as much. If you couldn't tell, I sold commercial packaging material for 20+ years.
why does it matter?
Some packing tape is organic based, it contains animal fluid or byproducts. Yucky smell.
why do u care
its weird i know. but who knows
