How do you get burnt on plastic off an electric hotplate?

let it warm up enough to make the burnt on plastic gooey again. Then carefully use another utensil to scrape off the plastic which should be very easy at this point then use a wet sponge and gently wipe the area to make sure all of the burnt residue is off.

OR.,.. u can try laying ice on it & should peel or pop off. Then wipe it clean... either idea here will work
