Recommendations for QUIET top loading washing machine?
Question:My ROPER is very noisy during wash cycle and spin cycle.
Is there a TOP loading machine anyone has that is quiet?
Answers:
Maytag, hands down
My Maytag is a 2000 Neptune model and it has some very noisy cycles. They gave me a video with it to forewarn about the "strange" noises.
I have an awful Whirlpool Calipso. I hate it. It's a high efficiency piece of c**p.
I have had to have it fixed so many times. Each time was because I did something wrong which is a crock.
My husband and I have been looking to buy another soon and I truthfully cannot find any good top loaders anymore so we may be going with a Bosh front loader.
I have a Bosh DW and love it .
My suggestion is to look online and find some good ones.

Kenmore Oasis Canyon Capacity washer and dryer. Very quiet. I have a second floor laundry and I can't hear them at all in the house.
Roper, Kenmore, Amana, Magic Chef, and Maytag are all made by Whirlpool. There top loaders are noisy. The only way to get away from that is with an agitator less high efficiency washer which start about the 700's. However, GE recently came out with a brand new top load line that starts around the 300's or Hotpoint is also made by Ge, and they have proved to be exceptionally quiet. We even had to go to a customer's house and show her the machine in use so she could see that it was actually running. I would spend my money on Ge or Hotpoint. They are very very quiet.
Good Luck
The Whirlpool extra large capacity top loader lasted for 22 years & noisy if it was out of balance on the spin cycle. Finally replaced with a Maytag extra plus top loader which is also quiet. I think the smaller models of any brand were noisier.
However, I also found a very firm 1" rubber mat that I had put under the latter years of my Whirlpool & now under the Maytag. I originally sought this mat to protect my new ceramic floor tiles in the laundry room; I noticed it also reduced noise.
I would not buy another top loader. Front loaders are far more efficient and do a better job cleaning your clothes. Front loaders cost a little more but should last much longer. They are fairly quiet. Use less water and less soap.
