How does the drum in a clothes dryer turn.?
Question:MINE HAS STOPPED AND THERE IS A LOT OF SOOT ON THE CONTACT COPPER STRIP AT THE REAR OF THE MACHINE WHICH MAKES IT LOOK ELECTRICAL FAILURE.
Answers:
Sounds like the drum belt has collapsed (broke) so I would not play around with it. Needs a tradesman ♥
its a thick rubber belt that makes it turn like a fan belt in a car, it sounds as though the belt has snapped.
the newer models run on a motor. This is probably burnt out. prepare yourself for a world of insane quotes! prices high from the thieves, and low from those who don't know what they're doing!
If the machine is a couple of years old, you're nearly as well to bin it and get a new one. They dont make em like they used to - literally!
Parts and repairs are generally so expensive that they encourage you to buy a new model, but repair jobs don't generally last either!
It's a loose loose situation for the consumer!
Clockwise , of course
its a rubber drive belt
buy a new one , cheaper than getting them repaired
if you can hear a noise then it's the belt if not it's the motor the belt is easy to change take the cover off see which end comes away the easiest put the new belt on check the tensioner put back together the belt isn't dear
