Just got some new bras...?
Question:and it says they they need to be handwashed. How do you hand wash a bra? I think it is because it has some kind of memory foam in it...?
Answers:
go look at your washing machine and see if it has a delicate cycle. If it does, this is the same really as hand washing them. Then don't dry them, lay them out, or hang them up to dry. If I hang mine, the foam always loses shape, so I lay mine out.
I just fill a tub with some water and put in laundry detergent for delicates..try woolite...swish around and then rinse with clean water. Squeeze to remove excess water, but don't twist...then hang to dry.
it will lose its shape if you machine wash it.
i usually wash mine n the sink, rinse well, hang by clip to dry
Wash it in your kitchen or laundry sink with Woolite or very little laundry soap in mildly warm water. You want to just swish the bra thru the water. Don't wring it or scrub it. If you have a soil mark (can't imagine why) you just use a soft sponge on that one spot and rub gently. Hang to dry. The dryer is what does the most damage.
You can use a delicates bag in your washer on the delicate cycle. Use a detergent like Woolite. You can find delicates bags in the laundry accessories aisle at Wal-mart or Target.
Put one or two bras in each bag. The bag prevents the straps from getting caught around the agitator and also protects the bra cups from being snagged.
Lay out your bras flat to dry.
I would guess you would wash them the same way you would wash anything. I would put some detergent in the Luke warm water in the sink. and gently rub the material together and the cups squeeze, and after you rinse them , you can now shape them back to where they should be. Or you might go to Bed Bath and Beyond and buy a small mesh bag, that you put the bras in and then put this in the washer on delicate and put only delicate clothing with it, and when you take them out, shape them into there form again.
This is what Simone Perele, the French lingerie company recommend:
Hand wash in warm, not hot water.
If you must machine wash, put them in a fine net bag, on "hand wash" cycle. Make sure you do clips up so they don't snag.
Always separate light and dark colours.
Use mild soap, and avoid harsh detergents and bleach. Don't use anything containing eucalyptus (often in wool detergents) as it destroys the fabric.
Rinse thoroughly as unrinsed soap damages elastic and can cause yellowing.
Squeeze bra gently in towel, do not wring.
Never tumble dry (which is so bad for so many clothes anyway).
Hang to dry away from direct sunlight and heat.
Do not use pegs - just hang over the line and fasten bra clips.
i fill up the bath tub with water put woolite in it,make sure the bras are hooked closed so there is no snagging, and let it set 15 min.swish them around a little i take the palm of my hand and gently rub the cups and the band with palm, then i rinse making sure all soap is removed,do not squeeze the water from the bras this is not good for them it will make them crease and loose shape, hang them up to drip dry i hang mine in shower, this will make bras last a long time,i buy only victoria secret bras and i want them to last b/c they are not cheap but what ones are anymore.good luck!!
Put it in the sink or tub add a little detergent or something like Woolite follow the directions usually you let it soak swish it around rinse them again with fresh clean water I usually hang up my bras in the bathroom to air dry so that they maintain there shape.
