Where are the stains and what do they look like? Under the arms is--well, sweat. Stains on the front could be careless eating. Stains here and there could actually be rust or grease from your dryer. You need to provide a bit more information if you want a definitive answer.
Your rubbing them against something that stains them, or if you use liquid detergent, it may not be washing out correctly. Switch to the powder stuff.

What kind of stains?
Iron in the water could be causing this problem, but I can not give you a deffinite answer as you did not supply any information about your stain problem, sorry I could not be of more help as far as providing you with some knowledge of where the stains came from, but I can help you remove them though, Unset old stains

Older, set-in stains will often come out in the wash after being pretreated with a solution of 3 tablespoons white vinegar and 2 tablespoons liquid detergent in 1 quart (1 liter) warm water. Rub the solution into the stain, then blot it dry before washing.

Get the rust out

To remove a rust stain from your cotton work clothes, moisten the spot with some full-strength vinegar and then rub in a bit of salt. If it's warm outdoors, let it dry in the sunlight (otherwise a sunny window will do), then toss it in the wash.

For large stains, you may want to soak the garment overnight in a solution of 3 parts vinegar to 1 part cold water before washing.

And if after performing the above methods your problem is not solved then I will suggest cleaning your washing machine with this method, Clean your washing machine

An easy way to periodically clean out soap scum and disinfect your clothes washer is to pour in 2 cups vinegar, then run the machine through a full cycle without any clothes or detergent. If your washer is particularly dirty, fill it with very hot water, add 2 gallons (7.5 liters) vinegar, and let the agitator run for 8-10 minutes. Turn off the washer and let the solution stand overnight. In the morning, empty the basin and run your washer through a complete cycle

Good Luck !
Check your washer to make sure that it's not the part where the water comes out of. If it's stained, then the water will come out stained too and get all over your clothes.
if you use liquid fabric softener this could be the cause.
my daughter has probably been wearing them. She's been like a professional stain maker on all shirts, mine or hers, for the last twenty years. Go yell at her.
