Do steam cleaners get rid of stains on rugs?
Question:It's a long story, but my grandmothers managed to wee on the rug in the bedroom, would a steam cleaner sanitize & get rid of the smell? I also wanna get clean the rug & upholstery in the living room which has gone a bit grey when it should be cream...should I get a steam cleaner? Or what else can you suggest?
Answers:
I would hire a professional carpet/upholstery cleaner if I were you, if you want it done right. I haven't had much luck using steam cleaners, myself. I don't have much faith in them.
yes, I would try a steam cleaner, they are good for cleaning lots of things
The steam cleaner may leave the carpet with spots that are cleaner than others. I would definitely call a pro who can use the proper chemicals that will comply with the carpet material that you have. Different carpets clean differently.
It should get rid of these stains but, maybe not. You'll have to try it. Sometimes you can scrub the area by hand first, then use the cleaner. Use "dawn" dish soap with the anti-bacterial cleaner in it.
The steam cleaner will work fine on all you have mentioned you need it for. the trick is the chemical you use in it! For the "accident" on the bathroom floor, use a disenfectant/deodorizer such as PineSol in the water of the steamer. The carpets and furniture in the rest of your house...you can use 1cup of bleach in the water with out damaging your furniture. Oxy Clean and Lavender Pine Sol is what I have my maintenance man use on the furniture, bedding and carpets in the hotel I manage in theHousekeeping Dept. I have had alot of compliments on the nice smell and the brightness of the furniture. Good Luck!
if you are going to buy a steam cleaner i would suggest buying one that is pressurised, they work much better than the other ones cause the steam is pushed out instead of just rising up the tube and falling out!!
good luck!
