How do you get a smell out of a washine machine?
Question:
Answers:
I usually use bleach and If I am out of bleach I use baking soda. Baking soda is a natural odor eliminator. If you use baking soda just put a cup of it in the washing machine and run the cycle without clothes.
Try running a load with bleach or white vinegar through your washer...without the clothes!
I agree with TheTrophyQueen, white vinegar is a great home remedy for the curse of the stinky.
The bleach and vinegar works pretty well. Just put it in like you would laundry detergent and run the washer on a normal cycle.
There is also a Lysol disinfectant cleaner that does a great job. It has somewhat of a better scent than the bleach or vinegar. It is highly concentrated so it only takes a capful or two.
I will also agree with the trophy queen and say that the answer is vinegar, this alone will kill any bactiria in the machine that is causing the smell and workes very good. you can also use plain white vinegar to put in the wash during the rinse cycle to remove lint from your clothes and it will make them smell nice and they will also be very fluffy too! instead of fabric softner..
Bleach or white vinegar will work, but don't use them together... If the smell is bad bad bad, try running a couple loads with no clothes with Borax. If that doesn't work, you've probably got a mold buildup inside the machine. If you're mechanically inclined, you can remove that thing in the inside of the machine and clean it. If not, have a repair person come out and do it for you.
