Little color bleeds in laundry?

Question:I am getting tiny dots and blotches of color bleeds when I wash a load of dark laundry -- usually it shows up as a yellow dot or streak on blue, turquoise, or purple clothes. I use a general laundry detergent in cold water with no bleach, and I always wash new clothes separately. In fact, this even happened with a brand-new, blue T-shirt -- with a pink decoration on it -- that I washed by itself in cold water! [I dried that particular shirt with some white clothes; could that have affected it? Do these type of spots happen in the dryer?] Any help would be much appreciated; I have ruined several fairly new shirts!! Thanks.

Sounds to me you might need to either hand scrub out your washer and around the washer rim, even dried bleach can be a trouble since if it even gets damp it will absorb into the color..also turn the heat down on the dryer and change your dryer sheets to unscented ones I have noticed this happening with the dryer sheets I used to use that had scents...Bounce makes a great unscented one, also using too much fabric softener will do it too.

Use color dye sheets you can find from the grocery store, it takes in all the extra color dyes that get into the water that would normally seep into other items.
have you tried woolite?
I don't know if this will work for you but I use peroxide to get rid of spots on my clothes. Usually white clothes.
as how I wash my laundry and I also do this as a small business.
I use warm water for jeans, Dark T-Shirts
Hot for towels
Cold for colors as in Pinks, reds, purples.
Warm: I wash my yellows and beige together.
Warm water: Greens can be wash with blues but I normally wash all my green together.
Black and blues can be washed together too. If in doubt about temperature then use cold water.

Whites I always use hot water with bleach or Clorox.
You could also try SHOT to get spots out.
You should not have any more bleeding colors if you do buy a new washer.
Oh one more thing, I never mix my colors in the dryer. Especially if they are new.
If you are still in doubt wash each item separate in warm water this should get any loose dye out. Reds are really bad about bleeding.
I wash clothes for people a lot since I have been disabled and I have never got a complaint I have got big tips though. :D
