My "washable" (tag said)!! wool quilt is all scrunched up inside and lumpy. Can I get it back the way it was?
Question:Thanks
Answers:
When I've ever washed a comforter or quilt I put a couple of old tennis balls in the dryer with it.
As it turns the balls bounce all over preventing the batting inside the quilt from drying in a clump.
It's always worked for me!
augh
throw it in the dryer with a canvas shoe
if you give it a good shake and stick it in the dryer on low heat!
put it in a COLD water gentle wash, take it out when it is done and stretch it back to place and lay flat in a dark room
You put it in the hot hot dryer? OUCH. To some what try and save it wash in hot hot water and and line try. Your dryer has sinched the filling.
You can give it a shot - I would try blocking it. Lay it out as flat as you can, spray it with a spray bottle full of water to get it wet and start pulling downward and outward. Lay a bunch of heavy books/plants/irons/pans over it and let it dry overnight. Then see how far that get you.
It may or may not work, depending on the type of filling, whether or not you dried it in the dryer, the way the filling was put into the quilt originally, etc.
Good luck!
Did it say wash in cold water and hang to dry? I don't have good news for you.
