How do you get curry sauce stain out of shirts?
Question:I had curry shrimp for lunch and spill some of the sauce on my shirt kept hearing curry does not come out, just checking to see if that was true
Answers:
Curry, mustard and red based sauces are the most difficult stains to remove, particularly on manmade fibers. It is the tumeric in mustard and curry that stains. You can try using lemon juice which sometimes will "bleach" the curry away, but if the shirt is colored it may take the color out as well. If you have some glycerine on hand let it sit for an hour or so, add a spotter and launder. Soaking it in a denture cleaning tablet can also remove curry. But, I usually wind up hitting curry stains (and mustard, too) with Zout, letting it soak in for 15-30 minutes and putting the garment in a soaker load in the washer with regular detergent and Biz Activated Non-chlorine bleach and letting it soak. I check it now and again, agitate the area with a soft brush and reapply Zout until it is gone. Whatever you do, do not put it in the dryer or use ammonia. The heat and ammonia will set the stain forever and you will never get it out.
