What will happen if i put my cashmere sweater in the dryer? will it ruin it or just shrink a little?

you will ruin it. The wool will get all bunchy and it will shrink down to the size of a doll sweater.
Wool in general should never be died it shrinks terribly and may also pimple. On that same note not all wools are machine washable and you should follow manufactures instructions. Probably hand wash roll in a dry towel and let air dry on a flat surface.
It'll ruin it. Try drying it on air dry with no heat.
Unless you are planning on dressing your 3 year old in it, don't do it!
