How can I clean my thermus that had old milk in it?
Question:It smelt so bad at first. There was stuff growing inside it. I had a shake in it on Wednesday. I forgot about it, and found it Friday. Now I can't get the smell out. Tried bleach and boiled water!! It still smells funky. Help!!
Answers:
Try soaking it overnight in soap. Put it in the dishwasher (if it's safe) Personally, I would just toss it and get another one. I have a purple thermos and it smells like anus. Couldn't get the smell out so I threw it away. Good luck.
I've heard that lemon works good for this kind of thing. haven't tried it myself, but it's worth a shot.
If it were me I would throw it away and buy a new one...there is nothing worse to me than sour milk
Chuck it no stomach sickness is worth a $10 thermos. Besides plastic absorbs the bad stuff you can never get rid of those germs.
Soak it with a solution of water a baking soda. It will remove the smell within 24 hours.
I agree with Kimmer. Baking Soda gets rid of all odors. Try her idea and I say use a brush to get in there and scrub real good. Run it thru a dishwasher cycle on the top shelf because that will surely sanitize the thermos from any bacteria growing from the spoiled shake.
no you were on the right track in the first place..
use 1 tablespoon bleach.. but use cold water. allow to sit for about an hour or so drain and rinse it and then clean as you normally would.
don't forget to take it apart and clean all parts, including the threads.

If the thermus is plastic, throw it out! Plastic holds germs. If it is glass, leave straight bleach in it overnight with the lid off. Then, empty the bleach and let it set without the lid all day.
Use Milton or any other Sterilizing Solution used to clean new born baby´s bottles . This will clean and Sterilize it for you.
Fill with warm water, add 1 teaspoon of baking soda, and allow to soak.
Keep it uncapped and it won't get a musty odor...
Hello Orange Bunny. Fill your thermos with Lemon Juice. It will take the smell away.It should clear the smell overnight.
Fill it with white vinegar and boil it in microwave then wash it as normal, this works well with my 2 year olds sippy cups that he hides.
