How do I get rid of fruit flies in my house?
Question:I have put all fruit in the fridge and I don't have food on the counter. I emptied the garbage and the compost and STILL they are here!

i am going through a similar situation,
ive tried several things but they keep coming back..i dont know if they go somewhere and lay eggs.but once it seems like everything is under control..

so what i do to get the situation under control is i open a banana and put it in a cup or plastic container (with a lid) that i can throw out...let the banana sit for an hour or two...once you dont see any activity in the rest of the house....most should go to the banana and once a few hours have passed...
top the container and toss it in the trash.or an outside garbage (if available)...
that works great with me..but like i said it seems to me like they lay eggs somewhere.cause they keep coming back

I use Windex or water to spray them down and wipe them away. Now that you have food put away and garbage and compost put out; you'll need to kill the ones that are there. They like windows so if you can make your kitchen dark they'll go to the window and then you can spray them down.
Or..you can buy one of those fly traps that have the yellow brick inside of a small cardboard box with "cheese" holes on the box. That will rid you of the fruit flies too.
If I get one in my house I suck it up with my dustbuster. I also will do moths if they get in, or maybe sometimes a fly. So much fun.
Once you empty your garbage spray inside with bleach. Make sure their is no food insight and that their is no opening for them to fly right inside your garbae can. They will go die.
