What works best to put down the drain to get rid of odor coming from the kitchen sink?

Question:Bleach, vinegar, baking soda. . .something else?

Answers:
I had the same problem. I cut up a lemon and put it down the garbage disposal and the odor went away instantly.
Also, I was told by a plumber that pouring 1/4 cup of Simple Green down your drains once a month will help eliminate grease build-up (this might be causing odor) Let the Simple Green stand all night and flush with hot water in the morning. This stuff is pretty strong so shut the doors to the rooms you use it in.

bleach
If it is a disposal throw some lemons in there are let them sit for about 5 minutes then grind them up. No disposal try the baking soda to see it it helps.
I poured bleach down mine and it smells fine. Hope it works!?!
Hmm...depends on what the issue is. Sometimes, if it's in a garbage disposal, grinding a lemon thru helps. If it's actually in the pipes, I'd try bleach - but bleach can react with certain plumbing, so if you aren't sure its safe in its undiluted form for your drains, I'd go with baking soda.
try laundry powder or just called a plumber - there must be something wrong if it smells so bad.
Dump some baking soda down it, let it set about 10 minutes dry. Then slowly pour in the vinegar! This will be really neat if you have kids to watch! It will start foaming madly and deodorize your drain! Works in regular drains as well as garbage disposals.
Baking soda. In fact, it has been recommended by magazine "helpful hints" in ariticles, to use the box of baking soda from the fridge/freezer every three months (to replace them) and pour the baking soda down the drain of the kitchen sink to help with odors there.
Also, I have heard that for garbage disposal blades to sharpen them ocassionally, use ice cubes.
I had tried all of the above and still had an odor. I found some packets of cleaner at Bed,Bath & Beyond called Disposal Magic.
8 packs for $5.00. You don't mention if you have a disposal. I do, so I use this about once a month. The smell had gotten really bad.
I would use bleach and also some kind of drain cleaner like Liquid Plumber
white vinegar works best. pour it down, let it sit a few minutes, then run the water.
