How do I get a red wine stain off a cream leather chair?
Question:It is quite pale and the wine was spilled on it about 3 weeks ago
Answers:
hope for a miracle..
as above said.. you should of put some white wine on it, when it was wet.. always does the trick..
You should have put white wine on it whilst it was still wet. It might still work I'm not sure.
Pour some Irn Bru on the stain and get a pack of Huggies Wipes.. that worked for me..
get it done profetionally they use so many specialty chemicals that you or i cant even get
Couldn't hurt to try one of the 'oxy clean' products out there. Or a very, very, VERY week solution of bleach and water, if nothing else works.
Check around your store's cleaning products. There might be more that are made for just that very problem.
good luck.
Whatever you do, don't use bleach or oxy clean products
This depends on what type of leather you have.
If you have an aniline style leather the wine will have soaked into the leather and there is nothing that will bring it out.
If you have a pigmented leather (one with a coated surface) the wine will have slightly redyed the finish. You can try LTT Maxi Cleaner as this is the only cleaner on the market which was specifically formulated for this problem. If this will not bring it out then you will need to contact a qualified leather technician who wiil be able to use solvents or recolour the leather whichever is needed.
Using a good Leather Protector on a light coloured leather (whatever the type) is crucial as this will inhibit dye transfer and also help prevent dirt and body oils from penetrating the leather. Do not use a leather conditioner as these do not work in this way.
Put white wine on it. White wine counteracts the red wine. Ive tried it on my clothes before and it's worked but havent tried it with leather. So put it on a small bit first and see what happens.
Good luck!
