How can you clean a matress?
Question:
Answers:
Upholstery shampoo. There should be a practical applicator where you can mix the shampoo with water and apply it on the mattress. I recommend Amway's Carpet and Upholstery Shampoo (not sure what the name is in America but I used it in Europe) because it's really gentle but cleans effectively. Buy it on www.Quixtar.com; they sell the applicator as well. But if you're not going for that, carpet shampoo water in the bucket and a damp sponge should do. Clean only the surface, don't soak your mattress wet. Then let your mattress air-dry... either set it out under the sun or the airconditioner.
If you have stinky spills (e.g. from bedwetting), soak the treated area with rubbing alcohol and let it evaporate. It kills the germs and eliminates unpleasant odours. Then treat the stain with upholstery shampoo.
If you're willing to spend the money you can also send it to the professional cleaners.
If you have a spill or bed wetting problem you can steam clean it.. I have done that many times but if its just a weekly bed change cleaning I lysol the whole thing. Good Luck
My steamer has a mattress attachment, I think the ones you get at the grocery store might have that option.
PS, Make sure you will have something else to sleep on for a few days
