Would you buy one? they're coming in around £800-£900. might be able to offer finance on them.

Well I think it's a good idea. You don't have to worry about the cable getting all tied up or in the way and doing the stairs would be a lot easier. It's a good product.
no i wouldnt cos i dont hover the whole house. the cleanner dose lol
doesn't appeal to me at all - the hassle of installing the system etc is much more of an expense and upheaval of using an ordinary vacuum cleaner.

About the blockage issue...I don't believe that just because something gets past a 90 degree angle means it will pass through a 45 degree angle. Some stuff in my home gets almost to the dust collector and then block. the shape of the object is normally flat so it goes past one angle edge on but then gets stuck elsewhere because it has turned flat on.
If this pipework does get block...man...what a ***** trying to get to all that pipe work!
Also, I prefer an upright vaccuum so that the brush on the upright continuously 'bangs' the carpets to bash out any dust.

Alright for those who a) own their own properties and b) can afford one/get the finance.
I cant see anyone who lives in rented accommodation forking out for one, unless it can be dismantled and moved which I assume would cost again! Oh and I can really see local councils supplying them for their tenants!!

I have laminated and hard flooring downstairs and carpets upsatirs so would be worth it for me plus the hasle of installing it all isnt appealing.
I think a lot of people have hard / stone / wooden or laminated flooring nowadays so many people wouldnt want an expensive hoover like this. Just my opinion

I've had one for 10 years--it was in my house when I moved in(perhaps they're more popular in North America?). I do like it because there's no vacuum to lug around.
But (and there's always a but) I've decided that it doesn't really do a great job because the vacuum is way down in the basement while I'm a floor or two away. There's no way the suction can be as powerful as a regular vacuum.
In a heartbeat! I have wanted a central in all three of the last homes we've built but my husband doesn't like them. Of course, he doesn't vacuum so he isn't bothered by hauling vacuums around. I would only have one installed as the house is being built. Really wouldn't want to put it in after the fact. All the home builders we have had offer them in their design package as an option. Many of our friends have them and love them and have had no problems with the units.
My mother and dad bought a new house a few years ago with one of these installed. My mother really likes it because the hose it is lighter than a vacuum, and I don't know that they have ever had any trouble with it and it's over 15 years old. My mother's also a clean freak, and she is happy with the way it cleans.
On the other hand, I don't like having to lug the giant hose around. I wouldn't install one in an existing house - unless for some reason I was doing enough major remodeling to have to rip out every wall of the house already. As for purchasing a new home based on it having this unit, I really don't think it would matter. Perhaps it would matter more to higher-end buyers, but then they would probably have a cleaning service anyway.
If I'm going to spend that much for a vacuum, I'll just get a Rainbow. Sorry...
NO. These were tried out in the late 50's and got a very bad name; the suction is virtually non-existant by the time it reaches the nozzle, they block inside the walls where you cant get at them, and are awkward and messy to empty. They also cost a fortune to install, and I wouldnt get in debt for a cleaner! Try a Morphy Richards POD pet cleaner for £45.oo; I just bought one and they are superb!!
