I just got a used front load washer and it really stinks inside. How do i get that smell out of it.?
Question:It smells like moldy feet. I thought about running bleach through it but i dont know, please help me if you know or have had this problem.
Answers:
it's just 'cause it sat around. I'd run an empty cycle of a little bleach and baking soda
I think bleach is the best idea. Just run a few empty loads with hot water and lots of bleach!
run a load with bleach, detergent and fabric softner at the rinse ...should work
clean the filter and put on empty with bleach addition
the simple way is to put lysol in it
baking soda and vinegar.
...maybe a little bleach?
Run an empty load on hot with bleach and Borax and that should kill anything in there and get rid of the smell
Clean the interior of the dryer with lysol. Then spray some Febreze in there.
Yes, I was going to suggest running it through a full hot water cycle, with bleach. After that, let the door remain open for it to air out
Just run an empty load, use bleach if the smell doesn't deteriorate
ewwww lol run bleach through or vinegar with hot water.. just dont mix the bleach and vinegar...good luck
If it's brand new, I'd take it back, but if not, follow the bleach advice, I used to clean houses for a living and know first hand, plus Martha Stewart and Chris Madden both recommend it. I know, they're lame but hey, they're GREAT homemakers so what the h***..hahaha!! Good luck!!
Run the bleach through it a few times lots of bleach...
You got it right. Set the water on a small load setting, add bleach, (no clothes), and let it run on the longest wash cycle the machine has. Then let it go through the complete rinse cycle to get the bleach out, then your ready for use.
set the machine, for a small load. Run the water into it, with bleach only and no soap., or clothes.
Let it run a full cycle, then check if the odor is gone.
More then likley your washer is holding water, it isint draing right you will need someont to come look at it. My mom had the same prolbem one thing to help is to leave the door open.
white vinegar naturally dissolves odor, run a load with like a white sheet or towel and it will clean the item as well as deodorize...
The biggest mistake you can make is running the washer after putting bleach, baking soda, vinigar, fabric sofner, etc.
into the machine, because it will wash out and accomplish nothing.
This is the absolute solution:
Take a plastic baggie and put in some baking soda and
lightly soak it with vinegar. punch a lot of holes in the baggie
and then seal it and place in the machine. Sprinkle some baking soda inside the machine, spritz some vinigar inside the machine, and let it sit overnight.
The next day put the mchine through a wash, remove the plastic bag and you have no more odors.
I would suggest one gallon of vinegar and hot water, large load setting, and let it run through the cycle. It worked for me.
Good luck!
The right way of cleaning a wash machine is to run a load with 2 gallons of vinegar, just make sure to add the vinegar before the machine is full.
