How can I remove smoke smell from home?

Question:We just put our home on the market to sell and need to rid our home of the cigerette smell - we have quit smoking in our home and have opened windows to help air out the house - any other suggestions would be great!

Answers:
I am sure you are going to do the usual stuff most sellers do as in paint and clean so It seems silly to tell you to do that...but I will tell you that in my years of property management sometimes smoke damage has been so bad even after a thorough cleaning and painting we have had to rent an ozone machine...I have also had to do this in my hotel work...it really clears the smoke right out...be sure that if you use one do not leave pets or people in the home/rooms you use it in.

paint call kill ay walmart works great
u smoke gross!lol
That smell is embedded in everything in that home - paint, carpets, furniture, clothes, etc. You are going to have to move everything out and repaint it you want to get that toxic waste out of your home.
Use fabreeze on the fabrics and oust in the air. The guy who used to own my car (its used) waas a heavy smoker, and so is our mechanic. Fabreeze worked in there, and it'll definitely work in your home.
You can try to either cover it up or air it out but a smoke smell will NEVER disappear from a house, no matter what.

Depending on the sensitivity of your buyers nose, they might not notice it. Air out the house completely overnight and for several days. (then get it fogged from all the critters you let in).
By then the house smells like fresh air and pesticide. Then, use scented candles that complement the nicotine residual (like Cinnamon and pumpkin but nothing citrus) left in the walls, carpet, and ceiling.
Also, if you are interested, changing the carpet will reduce the smell greatly (however, the catch is you have to remove all your furniture). Vacating is another option as well that brings out cluttering smells and personal items.
Good Luck with your house!
If you have curtains, either wash them or have them dry cleaned. Painting will definitely cover the odor. Use Fabreeze on all furniture. Have the carpets professionally cleaned. You can set small bowls filled with vinegar around the house also, but this is a temporary fix.

Just remember that smoke clings to all fabric and painted surfaces.
In the apartments I managed I used some spray from Home Depot I can't remember what it is called, but it is in a blue can, aerosol. It does not stain the carpet or anything and aslo works great in the car.Remembered the name it is Smoke eliminator made by ZEP,hope this helps.
This is what I would do:
Febreeze or wash the couch cushions and the curtains, and use a closet deodorizer and Febreeze on your clothes in the closet.
Wash the kitchen floors with Pine-sol and use a carpet deodorizer (like Glade...that works great).
Dust with Lemon Pledge--the dust is smoke particles.
If the air itself smells, trying waving a dampened wash cloth throughout the house...this pulls the smell from the air.
I absolutely disagree you cannot get rid of the smoke smell completely. I work for realtors getting the smoke smell out so new people can move in and it is what my company does, in fact I can tell you how but I am not supposed to "advertise" here. Shoot me an email if you would like and I will provide more info.
Open all the windows and have fans going to help push the air around. Wash everything you can throw in the washer (curtains, rugs, etc). Wipe the walls down with an all purpose cleaner, steam clean the carpets and furniture. Fabreeze works good too.
