That can be difficult, especially if you haven't used it in a while. Try taking a metal rake and rake over the area, when the metal rake hits the metal ring you will know it. Otherwise you may just have to get on your knees and feel around for it.

remember where its at until after dark and shine a flashlight in that area.the metal will reflect the light.
Get a contractors magnet at Home Depot, Lowes, or Menards. They have a handle and a couple of wheels and will roll over your grass and pickup anything metal.
