New house with funk smell in bathroom!!HELP, Plz...?
Question:We just moved into a home that in the master bath it has a funk smell. I have cleaned the floor with comet w/bleach as well as Mr. Clean, and the smell is still there I think that something may have been spilled in the sink cabinet. With the partical board being pourous, what can I clean it with that will eliminate the smell...I appreciate any advice.

If the vanity is particle board, there's not much you can do. If you try to clean it with anything that has water in it, the water will cause the board to split and separate. Depending on what the "funk" smells like (i.e. mildew, moth balls, etc.), make sure you clean really well around the toilet and drains of the sink and shower. You can also pour vinegar down the drains to make sure there's nothing funky growing in there. Put a bleach tablet in the toilet tank to kill any bacteria there also. If there's still a smell, it's probably best to get down on your hands and knees and start smelling around and find the source. You may need to replace the vanity. If it's a smaller vanity, it shouldn't cost you more than $100 for a new one, if you can salvage the sink. Good luck!
if it has been awhile since anyone was in the house the drains may be dry ... so run some water in the sink and shower to fill the traps so there will not be anymore smells!
Soak the board in pine sol and let it dry...
Apply self stick shelf paper to the board...
Soak a small sponge in pine Sol place it in a dish under the cabinet for a few days..

**** and span will help with the oder in the cabinet, the bad thing is with particle board being pourous it can swell and damage,
Do you have vinyl in the bathroom?
If you do it could be moisture under the vinyl that is causing the funk. because of mildew.
Check the drains it maybe a sewer gas back-up.
