My son had a stick of deodorant melt in his car from the heat.?
Question:It melted on his seat cover. I washed it out by hand and it came out but I can't get the smell out. Any ideas on how to get the smell out? I've had the seat cover hanging oujtside for a week and it still smells.
Answers:
buy a bottle of fabreeze. The fabreeze will give it a slight perfume smell but after a while, the perfume fades away and it takes the odor with it. You don't want to risk machine washing it because theres a slight chance that it will shrink and (god forbid) tear. If the cover shrinks, you will have another problem: putting the cover back on!
Try a washing machine.
sorry, just keep it out for a while longer. the smell is caused by Aluminum zirconium tricholorohydrex glycine. this ingredient causes the aroma to stay within the deodorant. again, i doubt there's any other way to get rid of it other than to continually wash it and let it dry. sorry
I don't mean to be rude, but his car would probably smell better with the deodorant smelling car seat cover in it than most cars owned by single males, especially teens.
The active ingredient is embedded in the fibers of the car seat. I would suggest giving the entire cover a slathering of Dawn dish detergent, scrub it in and let it sit overnight at the very least. It should lift the active ingredients from the cover.
Hopefully, the cover is machine washable, because Dawn will take a while to rinse out of the seat. If it isn't machine washable, I suggest hosing it off on the driveway so that the runoff doesn't kill your grass, just be patient it'll take a while.
Dawn does work better than the other dish liquids, honest.
