How do you clean Wheat Timberland boots?

Question:ive tried suede and nubuck cleaner but it takes the color off what can i use that wont damage the boots and clean them?

first I'd try cleaning them by brushing them with a stiff brush-get all you can off that way and then if they still need cleaning try adding 1/2 white vinegar to a gallon of water and then dip brush in the water and brush the shoes let dry then brush again
