I left my white gold diamond ring in cleaning solution all night instead of 10 mins. What can it do to it??

Question:It's a blue tinted solution I got from Robbins Brothers in California when I bought my ring. The container says to leave it in for 10 minutes, but I forgot about it and went to bed - it's still in there! It's been over 9 hours now. I'm worried about what it might do to my ring.

Answers:
Unless the cleaner is aqua regia, a mixture of hydrochloric and nitric acids, the ring is perfectly safe. Gold is used for jewelry because it won't react with normal solvents. The cleaner only attacks any residues or oxides on the surface of the gold. Here is a link to information on aquaregia, the only known solvent for gold.

How about you take it out now? Rinse it under water and put it back on your finger. I'm sure it's fine.
The solution should not harm the ring. If the solution is that strong to harm the ring then i would throw it out. It may tarish the rock. But it has to be some strong stuff to do that. It also may tarish the gold. My wife done the same thing to hers and nothing happened to the ring at all.
I'd start with taking it out of the solution. Does it look okay? Great! Put it back on and don't worry about it unless it looks funny. You'll notice if something is wrong.
The ring is ruined you need to ship it to my house and I will take it off your hands so to speak lol.
If the solution is for cleaning gold.it will be fine.I would think the timed statement would be for quick cleaning.Give it 10 mins to work. The over nite on real gold will make it shine..
Your ring should be fine, most solutions will not harm your jewelry. If it has turned somewhat yellowy gold again then take it to your jewler and have them rodemplate it. It brings back the shine and silverness to your ring. I
take it out and rinse it off...should be fine. Gold, silver, and diamonds aren't usually harmed by cleaning solutions, unlike pearls and emeralds.
