Can I use bicarbonate of soda to clean my really grimy oven?
Question:Hasn't been cleaned for about a year so is filthy... but I read I could use bicarb and vinegar. Is this right?

Bro...don't waste your time. It may work, but you'll need ten times the effort that you would use by using one of the spray on oven cleaners. They are about $3 a can, you just spray it on and wait about a half hour and then wipe them out and you are done and it takes EVERYTHING off. Absolutely no effort required and it only takes you 5 minutes to wipe it out rather than 45minutes scrubbing it. If it's super cruddy, just do the same process twice. These also work great for cleaning the racks in your grill! have fun!
you can also set a bowl of ammonia in the oven and close the door. Leave it for a couple hours or overnight. The biggest of the grime will wipe off with damp paper towels- then just use hot soapy water(dawn DISSOLVE) works good too! You may have to do the ammonia thing twice if it's really dirty. I am allergic to Oven cleaners and this is how I have to do mine.
Buy an expensive spray cleaner for ovens. Spray it on, close the door,leave it over night and it will wipe clean in the morning. No scrubbing. Really WORKS!!

Get a good oven cleaner.Spray in the evening and let sit overnight.Clean in the morning.
They work really well and good for touch ups (spills) in between cleanings.

2) quickly use a wet soapy rag (lemon juice added for extra effect) and scrub gently.
3) Follow up with professional cleaning agents of your choice 4) Repeat steps 1 & 2 to get rid of cleaning chemical in the oven.
