Can I hose my down comforter?

I have a down comforter and would like to clean up it. I know I will have to take it to the laundry mat and use the colossal capacity washers/dryers, but my questions are these: It is sort of quilted...it have several pockets sewn into it...with these do I still have to put tennis ball in the dryer with it? Also, is it ok to use a stain treatment approaching Oxy-Clean in the wash cycle? How more or less liquid fabric softener? If anyone can answer these question or give me some tips for this, Id be very appreciative. Thanks!

Answers:    Oh yes! You can swab them in the machine and dry them surrounded by the dryer, I do it regularly.

Id use regular powdered soap, and you can add oxy-clean if you want. I would not use fabric softener of any mode - but especially liquid - it might coat the feathers and weigh them down.

You can use the tennis balls if you want, or a tennis shoe, but Ive done it lacking, and it works just fine.
since it is feathers which is like fuzz, when I wash wool sweaters I use cream rinse and baby shampoo....for dying contained by the big dryer I would use dry sheets and the cream rinse....

I would never use a dry cleaner with all the chemicals and such....
purify it yes use the tennis balls as they fluff it back into shape. you can use oxy verbs and fabric softener add a voluminous dry towel to the dryer to speed up drying Check the label if it says dry verbs only
then splurge on yourself and drop it past its sell-by date..
it cost about $25.00 for a queen size comforter at my place.
Shop around dry cleaners are all different within price ranges.
I would dry clean it
