What is your routine when cleaning your house?

Question:No one in my house cleans, so its all up to me (im a 14-year old daughter) I can't stand it when my house is so dirty and im too embarrased to invite my friends over. So i have to clean my whole house by myself, from top to bottom. I want to know what your routine is!!

Answers:
Once you get it clean it is easier to keep it clean. I hope that the other residents of the house don't make keeping it clean too hard for you.

I work in one room at a time. I start from the top and go down. Top includes ceiling fans and checking for cobwebs in the corners by the ceiling. I start with a Swiffer duster, then I will go back and clean again with either Pledge for wood, or glass cleaner for plastic, mirrors, etc. The Swiffer gets the dust, but won't take up fingerprints, etc. Once all is done, I vacuum to get whatever I knocked on the floor up.

For bathrooms, I use SoftScrub with bleach. I clean everything with that first. I will then put a "paste" of SSw/ bleach on the shower floor and toilet seat and let sit for 10 minutes to kill germs. Once all that is done, I wipe everything down w/ glass cleaner to get a streak free shine on everything. Wash the towels and put fresh out. Keep unwrapped soap by the sink - bar soap - but don't use it. This will keep the bathroom smelling clean.

Kitchens are the other time consuming room. I usually disassemble the stove to clean it. Don't forget the top of the fridge. Check the cabinet fronts for spots to clean. Again, start from the top down and finish with the floor.

I can clean my entire house using Swiffer dusters, Pledge, Glass Plus, Bounty papertowels, SoftScrub with bleach, a vacuum and a Libman Wondermop (Murphy's Oil Soap for wood, Mr. Clean for tile / vinyl).

Well it´s time you set some rules to the other in your household. I clean my house like this, I only work in the 1 room at a time, never take thing´s back to their rightful homes , till I have finished in the room I am working in. I set my alarm clock to go off in 15 min´s time , see how much I can do in this short amount of time, Trust me you get a lot done. Also you can put your washing machine on at night, the clothes will be ready to hang out first thing in the morning, You can clean the bathrooms last thing at night before going to bed. Less to do the next day. But I think it´s rather unfair , that you and you alone , should clean up after everyone else. Set some rules & make them stick to them
1) Living Room

What I usually do isclean off all of the coffee tables, end tables, etc. Then I go to the floor, pick up any toys, or trash, anything that doesn't belong there. Then I go to the blankets, any blankets that didn't get folded I fold and put them in their spot. After that, I straighten up the couches, arrange thepillows, etc. Then I vaccuum up after I dust off all the tables, TV, mantel, etc.

2) Dining Room

First I clean off the table, put everything where they belong, and wipe it off. Then I take everything off thechina cabinet that doesn't belong there. After that, I vaccuum and clear off anything I missed.

3) Kitchen

First, I take off the food on the counters and put them away. Then I put all of the dishes in the dish washer and run it. I wipeoff the counters and put all the food in the sink down the garbage disposal. Then I rearrange all the appliances, and put them in the spot where their supposed to go.

4) Basement

What I usually do is put awayall of the toys, pick up the trash, put away all of the video games, and vaccuum. I reallyhave no order for thebasement.

Well, I hope this helps.

1) Have a designated cleaning day every week. When I was your age, Saturday morning was chore day and we couldn't go out until we were done with the chores. It gets to be a regular routine and your ready for it.
2) Get a plastic carry caddy for cleaning supplies to carry with you room to room.
3) Start in one room and completely clean (except for vaccum and moping)empty garbage, clean windows, ect. When you start on the room, put the things to be washed for that room in the washing machine. When your done with that room, put the stuff in the dryer and go on to the next room and start over. It feels great to get one room done and gives you momentum to keep going, plus it keeps you going on the wash too.
4) Instead of walking back and forth putting items away in other rooms/ places that are outside of the room your currently working on, start piles in a central place in the house and just put everything there to save you from constantly walking back and forth. Save the room that has the piles of stuff to be put away for last.
5) Always clean top to bottom. Especially with dusting. Get a big duster to help save time.
6) I always alternate which side of the house I start with just in case I don't get to finish. At least I know the otherside of the house was heavy duty cleaned the week before.
7) try to neaten up stuff every night before you go to bed.
I always start in the room where guests view first, and make my way from there. My living room, which is always easiest, then the kitchen, and den, then the bathrooms, and last bedrooms. First begin a load of laundry, this will get you going, then start in the first room, and set times to finish each room, and set a realistic goal, and breaks for lunch. Mopping and vacuuming is always last, because while you are enjoying a clean house the floors will be drying, and you can rest.
