How do you Freshen-up your tennis shoes?

Question:I thought I saw on TV the other day that if you put them in a zip-lock bag and stick them in the freezer over night- they wouldn't smell like used tennis shoes- but I can't find anything like that on an online search- Anyone got any "home remedies" for washing your shoes, besides the obvious- in the washing machine! I like my shoes to last, and the washing machine doesn't help!

Answers:
first take them off your feet, let then air out for 1 hour. this will help to dry them a bit. Then go to the cupboard and get the box of baking soda put about a teaspoonful inside of them, shake them back and forthuntil the bottoms are covered, let set overnight and next morning shake in some talkum powder to help keep them dry and repeat as necessary to keep them fresh

use Febreeze on them and scrub the outside with a tooth brush
I use dryer sheets in mine. I put the dryer sheet in there, and I set them on the register for the heater, on on top of the dryer. Somewere warm to make the sheet sent come out. Hope that helps! I do it all the time, and it makes them smell good!
pour fresh (canned or bagged)coffee grinds in the shoes,it will get rid of the odor.
Try sprinkling with baking soda. Baking soda neutralizes acid based odors like perspiration and it will even absorb odors from the air.
take off shoes and set them in the bathtub. Pour a bottle of peroxide in each shoe and let it set for about 5-10 minutes. after this, dump out peroxide and rinse w/ water. Then sprinkle w/ baking soda and let them dry over a floor vent! We do this to my husbands work boots once every 3-4 weeks!
put them outside or wash the by hand or the machine
if you can't do that throw them in the trash
To be honest the best thing I have found that does work is "Oust" spray.. it works wonders inside shoes and it will take out any odor.. its way better then frebreeze.and it gives your shoes that fresh like smell... ; )
Sprinkle baby powder inside the shoes, it will help with the odor and keep your feet dry.
