Hydrogen Peroxide... its awesome...its bubbles then dab it with a towel. You may have to do it several times.
If I were you I'd take a towel and some hydrogen peroxide and blott it at first. (Hydrogen peroxide will not bleach the carpet.) Hydrogen peroxide does get blood out of cloth and will do the same for the carpet. It even gets out old blood stains.
Use ice... rub it with ice and then dab it with a damp towel then ice then the towel, and on and so forth until it is gone.

Hydrogen Peroxide, it works very well for blood stains-even old ones. It will not bleach anything you use it on, You can try fantastic heavy duty too, that works for almost any stain but havent tried blood stains yet.

Get some wet rags and pour hydrogen peroxide on the blood.Let it bubble up and then wipe it up.Keep on til all is gone.Don't let it set too long before wiping up.
Make a 50/50 mix of clear ammonia and water. Spray it on the spot and soak it up with paper towels. It also works for pet urine.
