The first thing you need to do is declutter. Cutting down on clutter will not only make your room look neater but it will also make it easier for you to maintain the organization.
Once yo have gotten rid of any unused or unnecessary items in the room, remove everything from the room and give it room a thorough cleaning.
When you are finished cleaning it is time to bring back your stuff. Take the time to think about where everything belongs and be sure to assign a home to every item that comes back into your room. Things cannot be put away if they do not have a home.
When you are finished, make yourself a chore chart including a few small tasks that you can do each day to keep the room looking good. Your chart could include things like making your bed every day, doing a load of laundry each day or remembering to put things away when you are finished using them.
I use baskets of all sizes. they look good, you can get all different sizes for everything from laundry to jewelry. it also makes for really easy clean-up. you can get them in all colors, shapes and sizes really cheap.
If it doesn't fit or you have not used it in 6 months throw it away or donate it.... If you have room for storage bins with lids put all winter stuff in them and in the back of the closet. only keep out what you are wearing for this season... Good luck... its a crappy job!
I like to have the bed in the middle of the room and then work around the bed and put things where they look the best.
