What is the best way to clean a food dehydrator? We make jerky and I am looking for a "simple" solution.
Question:Is there something i can soak it in or some type of brush that works best? Thanks!
Answers:
You want simple? Use "Simple Green" you can buy it at any hardware store, walmart, big K, super K , kmart etc. It's kind to the earth and has GREAT cleaning power.
We have used one for years. Love it. But hate to clean it.
Soak in hot tap water with dish detergent, go back in a half hour and use an old toothbrush to get the gunk off the racks.
Any remaining bits you missed can be easily brushed off once the racks have completely dried.
Hope this helps.
I've found it is easier to clean my dehydrator if I spray the racks with Pam to keep the jerky from sticking, then all I have to do is put them in the dishwasher. If I forget to spray them, I have to soak and then scrub them with Dawn dishwashing liquid and a dish cloth to get all the gunk off..not fun....
Lay all the trays in the bathtub and cover with very hot water. Sprinkle some borax or washing soda and soak for awhile.
