I have a brand new electric range. Does the over cleaning cycle really.?
Question:work and how much of the baked on stuff does it really remove?
Answers:
You will love it. Just wipe out the ash when it is finished.
And if you have a cast iron skillet that needs to be reseasoned put it in the oven then start the self cleaning process. When it's finished your skillet will be reseasoned also.
This is a very nice feature. In one apartment I lived in years ago when I ran the oven cleaning system, it took about 3 hours to do its thing. When it was done there were just ashes in the oven that I wiped out. It was very effective.
You will love it - it turns you baked on stuff into dust and all
you have to do it wipe it out after its cooled down, I sometimes vacuum the dust out and wipe with a damp cloth.
Its a great invention.
Happy cleaning.
Well, we have a stove/oven with a self cleaning cycle. And it works really really well. In case you don't know how it works, you seal the oven up and it gets way hotter than you can set the oven temperature to. It incinerates all of the baked on junk in the oven, and either converts it into ash, or it disappears all together. The only thing you might have to do is clean ash out of the oven if you spilled, say, a whole container of something.
But really, it works very well.
It uses an enormous amount of electricity. It will use high heat to burn off the stuff, and then it will fall to the bottom for you to wipe it off. do not leave it unattended.
I have never had a problem with mine. It works great
Ooh! Those things can be dangerous.
The oven actually LOCKS it self shut and there is nothing you can do to open it.
The heat from the cleaning process is greater than any setting you can devise on your own from turning the dials and it only unlocks after it has cooled and IT has determined it wants to unlock.
If there is something in there which catches fire, which can easily happen, you would just have to hope it runs out of air and extinguishes itself.
I use oven spray to celan my oven and I don't use the self cleaner.
sure it works but nothing works like elbow grease.
It removes everything. I've used this for years, and so far nothing dangerous has happened. I would suggest that you remove your racks first, though. They can become less shiny and hard to remove, if they have been inside the oven when it is self-cleaning. Also suggest that you remove any chunks of food that may be in there (like sausage from your pizza, etc), because things like that will create smoke, and you will smell it in your house for a couple days.
To me, it's cheaper and faster to just wipe out the oven and save the cost of power to let this thing bake for 3 hours at 600 degrees...but, yeah, it's a feature that will take away all of your baked on crap for you...
