Do you have a great tip in washing clothes.?
Question:
Answers:
Sort you clothes by intensity of colors.
Whites
Dark colors
Light colors
Jeans sometimes go into their own group. (Turning inside out helps prevent fading.)
- Use bleach with the whites.
- When drying most things can take the high heat setting, delicates should use low heat settings. Jerseys and lacey stuff would fall into delicates.
- When done drying take items out quickly and hang/fold them to reduce ironing time later.
- Suits and fancy dresses are dry clean only. (Dress shirts too if you want to keep it crisp.)
- When Ironing use water if you just want to get the wrinkles out, statch for a crisp feel, and sizing for a semi stiff feel.
try being a bit more specific then i may be able to help.
Yes, in order to get a great wash instead of using recommended amount of detergent, use only three tablespoons of detergent instead this does a good wash and you will have less residue on your clothes and save a bundle on your detergent consumption, I use this method myself and save alot and my clothes come out less stiff than before when using recommended amount by manufacture. Good Luck !
I'm a real 'soak freak' especially whites - don't see the point in washing if the end result doesn't look clean! I also use white vinger instead of fabric softener - cheaper and works just as well unless you like the pretty smelly stuff.
Here's a good tip for washing whites.
I rarely use bleach, but have taken to using Oxy Clean powder ( I purchase it by the bucket at Wal-Mart)
1. Fill the wash tub with Hot Water
2. Place your whites in tub and put 3 Scoops* (scoop comes included in powder) of Oxy Clean in the water, along with your washing detergent.
3. Agitate the clothes in washer for a few minutes, then stop washer, close lid, and soak whites for around 8 hours.
4. After soak time, start washer back up, allow to finish wash and rinse cycles.
5. Run load through an extra rinse and add your fabric softener.
when finished put clothes in dryer and dry as usual.
This works great if you start when the clothes are nice and new. I finally found something that keeps my hubby's undies nice and white.
* The old scoops included in the Oxy Clean are the small blue ones, the new ones are green and much larger.
If using the larger scoop only use about 3/4 of a scoop instead of the 3 scoops stated above.
For colored clothing I've found a great new product!
SHOUT Color Catcher. You place one sheet in your washer with your load of clothes. You can put whites and colors in the same load and the colors don't bleed onto the whites. It's a great way to get those 'mini loads' of mixed items done.
BTW make sure you check out these procedures before you trust my advice on your best clothes! This advice has worked FINE for me, but there are so many different materials out there I'd hate to have someone ruin their fav stuff. ;0)
I always presoak, and I love Triple action Oxyclean
Stain lifter. Wash towels in hot water, no fabric softener,
and give them an extra rinse for softener.
I have just discovered these amazing laundry products! http://www.shaklee.net/barbaramanganello...
