Aluminum foil prevents silver from tarnishing?

Question:I've heard you can prevent your silver from tarnishing by storing it somewhere fairly airtight with a piece of aluminum foil. Is this true? And if it's true, does the foil get "used up" and necessitate being replaced after awhile? And if so, after how long?

Answers:
I'm not sure ,but I know if you put foil in the bottom of a bowl, fill with warm water, and put some baking soda in it, it will clean the silver!

I put white chalk in with mine and that works.
