1200 sq ft 2 dogs and 2 adults that talk down to you. How much would you charge to clean their home?
Question:Why do some people treat their housekeeper (who by the way is cleaning up after you, dogs, kids) so poorly? A couple of weeks ago I had to pick up my girlfriend from her housekeeping job (she fell) and her client was rude about it ... my friend says she's just like that, most of my clients talk down to me ... Ugh! How much would you charge to clean this clients house? No money in the world could pay me enough ... but she's going into the hospital for her back and asked me to help with her clients. How much do you pay for your housekeeper ... I think she's being taken advantage of and any feedback would be great.
Answers:
If she is not insured, and does it privately , well your area is total factor. That job probably takes her 3 hours for that square footage due to the dogs. I would do $25 an hour.
My company charges $90 an hour for a first time clean and that is with two people. If she went regular it would run the client for one hour $95 per visit. If it took 1.5 hours it would run $125. But we have insurance etc..
I personally would not charge if I was a private cleaner under $25 an hour.
All I can tell you is that I have a 2,100 house, with one small dog, and I get my floors mopped, bathroom cleaned, furniture dusted and general straightening for $100 every two weeks, in NC. By the way I don't talk to my houskeeper, she comes while I'm at work so I'm out of her way and not disturbing her or distracting her.
There are greatful clients out there that will pay better and act better than the bunch you have described. Tell her to ask her good clients to pass her name along. If she is good at her job, she will be turning down clients in no time.
I feel VERY lucky to have someone I can trust and I appreciate my housekeeper very much!
Thanks Mary-Grace!
Some people get a "better than you are" attitude when they hire cleaning help.kind of like they've moved up in the world, but trust me.it affects all their relationships.
I used to clean houses for a living, and for a house that size, plus all the dog hair, I would charge $100-120 week.
